Yes, the bid from Golden Gate Capital will win. They've partnered with Jeff Hunt (owner of the Ottawa 67's) and he will be team president. Golden Gate has already negotiated a tentative lease with the city for Frank Clair Stadium.

Frank D'Angelo (Steelback Breweries) will not be awarded the team because he has publically stated that he intends to give a senior front office position to Phil Kershaw.

Its highly unlikely. There is not enough time to organize a franchise in time for 2007. Let's hope Ottawa is back for 2008.

TORONTO (CFL) - The Canadian Football League (CFL) is continuing the process to bring back a franchise to the Ottawa-Gatineau area. The CFL received letters of interest today from all of the prospective purchasers which had previously indicated expressions of interest.

"We received all of the letters of interest at the conclusion of today's deadline and we're beginning to evaluate the responses," said Ted Hellard, the Chairman of the CFL's Franchise Committee. "There is no deadline or time limit. When a decision has been finalized, an announcement will be made."

Yes, I think they will, if not in 2007, then 2008 for sure. Jesse Palmer's father is putting people in place to obtain the franchise in Ottawa. Dont be surprised if Jesse Palmer (QB, now with Montreal) will be their quarterback when all is said and done.

It would be nice to expand the league again but I think that Ottawa has proofed they need some time to create a more stable market and get some good investors. I don't think much has changes there in the last year. Why not try some other markets that are neglected of any professional teams (i.e. Halifax, St.Johns, Quebec City).
