Why are judges not held liable for mistakes they make in child custody cases?
A judge decided to give custody of 2 small boys to their father, after he admitted on the stand of being abusive, at 18 the oldest has domestic violence charges, we found out later that the judge hung out at a nightclub owned by a relative of the father. Another judge left a 3 month old with the mother after the baby spent 9 days in the hospital from malnutrition. Another judge left a 7 yr old with a mother that is known for her drug use and has left the little girl alone while going shopping. If I drive through McDonalds and I spill hot coffee in my lap, I can sue them, or if I choose to smoke and get lung cancer, I can sue the cigarette makers. Who do you think should make custody case decisions, and how would a person go about getting it changed?

I agree with you completely.I never had to go through custody hearings myself,as my ex just dropped off the face of the earth. But,I went through this process with my best friend. It went on for years. Her husband was a wife and child abuser with numerous police reports files on him.He always said he would kill them all if they left. Finally, after he raised a shovel to hit one of his children with it and my friend stepped in instead, she finally had the good sense to leave this man.It was always used against her in court that she took her children and ran and he didn't know where they were for about a week.HE ended up getting custody of both of these children after years and years of fighting.Very sad, both of these children are now on medication for mental problems.I just couldn't believe just where these judges heads were.I think he was given priority because he was in the military, but these children's lives were ruined by the stupid decision of all of these judges, and over the years there were more than one.Why a judge would give custody of two little girls to a known abuser is beyond me.They should be held accountable for their decisions, especially when the outcome should be obvious to any normal person.

- I have seen this so many times, especially with two sets of grandchildren. I would very much like to start some type of group, to see what we can do to change the laws. I believe CASA should be called in on every case, no matter what. They refused to call CASA on ours,

Under the Rules of Court, a judge can be tried for gross ignorance of the law or when a decision is erroneously made without basis or evidence.

You have to contact a professional lawer.
But in general, every decision is made by human, no one can be right for 100%.

That's what appeal courts are for, and also freedom of the press.
Judges are removed from office from time to time; but not nearly often enough given the state of incompetency of many.
But a judge is generally immune to suit, except in case of demonstrable corruption.
