Why not Sallie Mae Loans?

If you choose Sallie Mae as your lender they will hunt you down like a dog for their money. They will call your house 8 to 15 times a day for as long as you owe them. If you want to transfer to another lender, the new lender does not want to deal with Sallie Mae because they do not allow you to leave them and they have the rights by law. Spread the word their are a very bad lender and you will have no rights in court if you want to sue them. Sallie Mae is well protected by the big dogs. My advise to anyone reading this is to avoid Sallie Mae loans. Make sure the next lender does not affiliate with Sallie Mae. I know many people who are trapped by Sallie Mae. Sallie Mae's student loan practices are, to say the LEAST, highly questionable. It seems as if they've modeled their business in such a way to make borrowers fail.

They make mistakes like any business, only you have to fight for months to make them fix their mistakes. You'll receive 10-20 automated phone calls per day until you successfully get them to fix their errors.

Oh, and don't even think about trying to get the late fees removed. They'll continue to claim the mistakes were YOUR fault.

Do not get Sallie Mae, it is better to take out a private loan from a bank. It is predatory lending backed by Congress.

Of course they will "hunt you down"...Anyone will if you owe them money. I didn't have any problems when I used Sallie Mae. But I paid when I was supposed to pay. There are a lot of people that run & try to hide when it comes to paying THEIR bills..They'll find them people..Student loans is one thing you don't want to default on. That is one thing they don't let you file bankruptcy on. You have a lot of options w/Sallie Mae to help if you aren't able to make your payments & they do allow you to consolidate. Just look at smartloan.com..I think you would find that all lenders that do student loans will try to collect the money in the same way that Sallie Mae does. You can try to avoid them all you want but their just trying to keep you from going into default. Once that happens you'll have no choice but to pay or the gov't will just take the money from your tax checks, pay checks or however they can get it.
