Cell division is a like a big set that contains both the mitosis and meiosis.

New cells made under cell division can be either through mitosis or meiosis. THe only comparison that I can see is mitosis vs. meiosis.

Mitosis has lesser processes than meiosis. In fact, meiosis II is actually the same as mitosis.

The outcome of mitosis is 23 PAIRS of chromosomes and outcome of meiosis is 23 choromosomes.

Mitosis happens on ALL autosomal cells while meiosis only happens in the sex organs.

In normal condition, NO independent assortment and crossing-over should take place in mitosis but these are essential steps in meiosis.

The outcome of mitosis, 23 PAIRS of choromsome that is genetically identical to its parent cell.

The outcome of meiosis, 23 chorosomes that is 1/2 of the number of its parent and contains a different genetic makeup.
