What do I need to know before buying a powder board?(Besides longer length)?

I plan on buying a powder board for next winter and am wondering what I might want to know before buying one. I read somewhere that a powder board should be longer. I was gonna get one that comes up to around my eyes from the ground. Is that about right?

Additional Details

I'm 5'11 and weigh about 185. I always think Burton because i'm from Vermont and their factory is like half an hour away so I don't hear much about other board makers.

On of the biggest myths in sizing snowboards is the whole "it should come up to your chin" this is not true at all. Board length is dependent on three major things, weight, rider ability and riding style. For example i am 175lbs and 6'1" and for park and tight trees i ride a 155 rome agent and for fast groomers and powder days i ride a 169 neversummer titan with a setback stance. On a dedicated powder board you should look for a slight taper from front to back with a set back stance. The reason for the setback stance is that it keeps your weight back and your nose on top of the snow. Burton does make some decent powder boards but just don't look primarily at them, there are many other high quality boards out there to choose from. It would help to post your weight and riding ability so i can give you a good recommendation.
I see you posted your weight. Never Summer is a great board company it is fairly new compared to alot of of brands but they are putting out some exellent boards if you are looking for just a pow board look at the Summit in a 167 but if you want somthing a little more versitle check out the T5 in a 165/168, I ride a titan 169 and it is a beast. It is an amazing board but it demands respect.

Not exatcly true, powder boards different from other boards, its not exactly that they are much longer however that very much helps, i have a burton air 161 im 5'10"and i weight 170 pounds matched with cartel bindings it a very versatile board without having to spend the extra 100 dollars on a burton custom these boards are popular for doing it all so to speak and it has never sunk me in deep powder, before you go out and buy a board go to burton.com and do some research, make sure you understeand about body lenght and weight affecting your performance i would also reccomend getting a burton malolo, burton fish or a burton s-series as these are burtons top performing powder boards and they are also very durable

Don't buy a Burton snowboard. There are better brands.
