Keep working out...for the 8, a lot of distance isn't really necessary. If you're focusing only on that, you probably don't need more than 20 miles per week. Speed work is really necessary such as 200s, 400s, and 600s. You can do some 1000s every once in awhile but do speedwork 2x a week. And be sure to rest at least one day.

Also, running is very mental. Just think about the race. Visualize it. You can do it. Relax. Good luck.

work on your paceing if you want your time to go down so try to run your first and second lap in a time of 2:15 and keep lowering that split time. also when in the race i always find it helps to try and get to the front of a pack at the start that way there is less slower runners you need to pass. ANd the largest difference in my times was good competition i started out running a 2:30 at zone then rurals i got down to 2:25 and finally at provincals i got down to 2:16 its amazing what happens when your with the right competition and facilitys

Well first off, your time is really good, great job! I'm 14 and my personal best is a 2:34 . The 800m is 50% speed, 50% endurance. In track practice 3 days a week we would do repeats like 8x200m and 6x400m Then we would do about 10x100m strides. Then the other 3 days (we would practice monday-saturday and take sunday off) we would do endurance training like 5-6 miles or 45-50 minute runs. Good look, and I hope this helps you!!

First build up your mileage, run about 40 to 50 miles a week for 3 weeks, then start workin on your speed. Start with 600s, do
3 600s on Monday And Wednesday, and on tuesday thursday and sunday work on your mileage but do less miles, and use friday and saturday as your rest days.

First off you need to give your body some rest at this time of the year you should only be going 5 days a week.
And as the big meet approaches (or your last meet), easy off more less mileage, and faster sprints.
Be positive going into the meet, get a good nights rest, be hydrated.
Good Luck and hope to see you at JOs
