I think Tibet will not improve much as today. I still wondering how a religion leader can modernize the country while teaching their subject to uphold traditions? Many experts said if China did not invade Tibet, Tibet will not be improved like today. Although Beijing rule that region with heavy hand, still Tibet enjoyed modernization and economy plan by Beijing. My father told me that Tibet has improve a lot since his last visit last year compare to 15 years ago, where he visited that area with my mum. I still dunno wether it is true or not but one day i sure will go to Tibet to check it out for myself. Seeing is believing.

Humans Right is always a major concern but the quality of living standard should be put in the first hand. I doubt the ability of Dalai Lama to improve the living of Tibetan peoples other than religious matter.
have any of you either been to china or tibet?

It would still be in a cast system and 95% of Tibetans would still be stuck in serfdom much like India but not as advanced.

China's invasion, take-over and ill treatment of Tibet illustratesC hina has imperialist tendencies just like any greedy country.

If China hadn't invaded, Tibet would be a world leader for peace and enlightenment, things the world desperately needs now.

So if Russia, America or any other country invaded China that would be great then and you would support them keeping China as their own.

China is an invader and in dire breach of human rights. It can never take a full or trusted place in the world whilst it continues with such practices.

If you don't see the tremendous change happened in Tibet.
How can you make a judgement that China Gov is evil?

Tibet used to be a backawards religious land. The monks (aka Lama)and land lord owned everything.Tibeten people are slaves mentally controlled by their so called "Living Budda"---Dalai Lama.
After China communist party took over TIbet ,they enforced land ownership reform and set the peasants free, but this policy seriously desroyed the profits and status of the monks and nobles。。。。they started to rebel..
Dalai Lama is a hypocritical liar.He pretend to be a generous and kind person to earn the sympathy from all over the world while hiding the dark side of his ruling.

In the past 50years ,TIbeten people benefit way more wealth and freedom than Dalai Lama period.China just open a new railway there in order to improve their economy.
To those who pretend to know a lot about China,Be responsible for what you said!

are there any other ethnic groups or races in your country?if you belong to the majority, is that mean you are invading and ruling the other ethnic groups?
those who against the government, they have their own political opinion, who cares?people always have their own opinions.
they get money from foreign government or organization, saying "free""free"the whole day,and have a happy life abroad.why they don't' help their people to get rich and develop.
there are political powers behind them, and you?which political power is behind you?if there is a political power behind you, then don't pretend to be a nice person to save the world.if you don't belong to any political power, then learn history and get education.
