Ovarian Cysts?

Question

The doctor thinks I have folicule ovarian cysts(I had an ultrasound done a month ago revealing I had ovarian cysts),I'm getting a repeat ultrasound in a few months to note any changes or whatever.My question is can ovarian cysts cause a period to come more than a week earlier than expected,be lighter,and doesn't last as long as my usual periods.Usually my periods are quite regular(every 36 or 37 days)and quite heavey and lasts 7 or 8 days.My last period(the early one) was extremely light(barely enough for a panty liner)and only lasted 4 days.I was wondering if ovarian cysts can cause this?

Also what are some symptoms of ovarian cysts?

I thought women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrom usually have irregular periods?Mine are quite regular except for the one that came more than a week earlier.

2 weeks after my "early period" that was just spotting,I'm having spotting again.Could that be because of the cysts or could it be something else?

I think it's completely different from person to person. Some people can have period changes and pain, while others like me had nothing. I just started gaining weight.
I don't think there are any symptoms, they just are there. Luckily your doctor caught them.
Don't be worried if you have to have surgery, I had it when I was 16 and it was fine.

no ovarian cysts cannot but they are mostly cause by too much insulin and androgens in your system this fact can cause that and the fact that you have cysts on your ovaries makes me want to tell you ot talk to your doctor about whats known as polycystic ovary syndrome it is caused b what i was talking about above and is give nits name becasue there are cysts on the ovaries...it can cause lots of complications and can be treated but not cured.

yes ovarian cysts can affect your period. It did to mine. With the ovarian cysts, I received a lot of abd pain, chills when I was on my period. Most MD's wont do surgery to remove them unless they feel it could cause a health risk or if your in an extreme amount of pain. My MD placed me on birth control for 3mos straight, to only have my period 4x a year, so that it "quietens" my ovaries so that they don't produce cysts. Cysts are basically a fibroid on steroids. When it gets extremely large it will rupture, causing severe pain. If you don't need to have a period, meaning if you aren't trying to get pregnant to like me already had my tubes tied, then talk to him about taking birth control for several months.

Yes ovarian cysts can cause delays or even make your period come earlier than expected. I have had this happen to me everytime I have had an ovarian cyst and I have had a lot of ovarian cysts over the past 9 years.

Sometimes ovarian cysts often causes no symptoms, however when they do, symptoms may include a dull ache, sense of fullness, pressure in the abdomen, pain during sexual intercourse, sporadic pelvic pain, painful periods,
delayed or irregular menstruation and abdominal distention.

If you have any concerns regarding your ovarian cyst and have any of the symptoms as listed above, I recommend getting back in touch with your doctor to see what they say. Sometimes ovarian cysts can twist or rupture causing intense pain and sometimes turning into an emergency.

I lived with ovarian cysts most of my life until 4 years ago. When I was 12 years old I started my period. When I was 13 I got this really bad pain where I could not walk, my dad had to carry me to the car an take me to the hospital. When I got examed they said that I had a ruptured cyst. Ever since than I had ovarian cysts I've had 8 surgeries for them an they do start to hurt really bad if left untreated. Mine were the size of grapefruits most of the time. I eventually had to have a partial hysterectomy done when I was 25. I have one overy left an I still get cysts on that ovary. But they go away thankfully. I use to go months at a time without getting one I even went a year without one. When I did get them they usually lated 7 heavy days an 3 spotting days. I even got two periods in one month where i wnet 7 days spotting an the 8 day heavy an than nothing. Yes, ovarian cysts do cause this an even what they call endometriosis can cause it because I had this also. I was even taking the depr shots to help nothing helped me I was the pill since I was 13 years old. had ovarian cysts since I was 13 so I had them for12 years. Chills, very bad cramps sharp pains in abdoemn, very heavy bleeding, clotting, an not able to stand up straight or even walk at times becasue of so much pain. Weight gain nausea vomiting diarrehea, excess growth of pelvic hair,etc.

Ovarian cysts can cause alot of problems.. I still have some my ovariesare the size of quaters studded with cysts. They can cause a woman to be sterile and have a hard time getting pregnant. long with alot of other problems. Best thing to do is check with a specialist. today there is alot more help for the cysts than 30 years ago. Have it checked
