Please, please, take immediate action--it could save your life. You are addicted to the Lortab. Of course, only your doctor can give you the best advice on how to handle the problem, but there are several options that you have. I, too, became addicted to Lortab a few years ago(after a legitimate medical problem-and after NEVER abusing ANY drug before in my life) and was terrified of going through withdrawels. Everyone has a different opinion about it, but what helped me best was when I saw an ad in the local paper that read "Addicted to pain pills? Call xxx-xxx-xxxx." I called the # the very next morning, and made an appt. It was the # to a nearby Methadone clinic. Up until then, I thought Methadone was only given to heroine addicts or hard-core"junkies". WRONG. Methadone is used to treat addiction to opiods(such as Lortab, Oxycontin, Morphine, and, yes, heroine). I was seen by a physician at the clinic as well as a psychiatrist and was started on methadone--and I immediately stopped taking the Lortab AND EXPERIENCED NO WITHDRAWELS AT ALL. Methadone, when taken at an appropriate dose, does NOT impair a person's ability to drive, function, think clearly, or work ANY job. I am a Registered Nurse.----Some people, who do not understand what methadone really is, look down upon those who are on it, not realizing that it could just as easily be them. the other people that go to the clinic I go to are "everyday people"--98% of whom are there, like myself, because of an addiction to PAIN meds...NOT heroine. Methadone does not make a person feel "high"--just NORMAL...which many people addicted to pain pills say they haven't felt in years! Methadone is only taken once a day... it stays in the system for 36-48 hours(thought it wears off after abt 24 hours)----which means no more having to take something every 3-4 hours...and it also means a HUGE relief for your liver! The Tylenol, alone, that's in the Lortab (when taken in such high amounts every day) is enough to damage your liver. PLEASE consider seeking out the nearest Methadone clinic where you live! Even if it means you;d have to drive an hour one-way to get there,it would be WORTH IT..(After a couple of months--as long as you are complying with the program--you'd get to take home a few days' worth of it so you wouldn't have to make a trip to the clinic every morning forever..GOOD LUCK, no matter what you chose!
