What types of rocks are you most likely to house dinosaur fossils?

I am writing a story and would like to know whether fossils are more likely found in dense rocks, soft rocks, etc. Are they ever found in the opposite? Are there any types of areas that would never be suitable for fossils? I'm planning on setting the story in the jungles/mountains of Peru or Equador. Does that strike anyone as patently bogus? If so, why?

Most fossils are found in sedimentary rocks. Igneous and metamorphic rocks are too volitile when they are created so the fossil would most like ly be destroyed. Sedimentary Rocks are formed in layers and require a lot less pressure and heat to be created. Hence their is greater chance that the fossil has not been disturbed or destroyed. Peru or Equador.??? It could be called skeptical by some. That area is a very active area (earthquakes, volcanoes, plate tectonic) so some might call it an area that is to volitile to support good fossil finds. But you never know.
