Wedding Centerpieces & cheap wedding websites??

Hey everyone. im getting married in just about 4 months and im having a really hard time deciding what to do about centerpieces for the ceremony. my fiance & I like the idea of beita (spelling?) fish in the middle in the colors we have chosen for our decorations and bridesmaids dresses (does that idea sound weird to anyone?) by the way are blue and brown. also if anyone knows any wholesale wedding websites or cheap websites that would be a huge help. any help at all would be very very helpful! thanks again!

Hi. Please don't use live fish as a centerpiece. I have heard horror stories about this....and really, it is not unique or different.

There are many, many things you can do.

Get some "ivy" bowls like these:

available at Dollar Stores and Walmart for $1/each.
Put in some blue vase gems like these:

and float some candles.

OR....do up a centerpiece with the ivy bowls: Layer some brown sand and blue sand (available at craft stores like Michael's and online)....and then push down a votive candle. Very pretty and cheap.

OR...you can do something with brown coffee beans....like this:

There are many, many low cost ideas. Use Google and type in "wedding centerpiece ideas" and you will see tons!

Good luck!

I agree that it's not necessarily a centerpiece people want to take home . Here is a site that rents them out. They deliver and pick up the Beta fish centerpieces. Not sure what the cost is but I guess it's worth a look!

If you decide to do this, keep in mind that betta fish are fighting fish and you can only have one per bowl. It might be easier to do flowers and floating candles instead. It's even prettier IMO. Good luck!

I am doing my centerpieces really cheap. I got vases from Ikea that were $.99 each (average size) and am dying the water to match my colour scheme. I have some plastic ice chips to put in the bottom of the vases and scatter on the tables as well. We are using flower shaped floating candles in the vases and spreading flower petals along the length of the tables. We did a trial run and it is gorgeous and cheap! Good luck!

As the recipient of a Beta from a wedding reception I don't like the idea.
I liked my fish but most didn't and the bride and groom had to deal with the left fish. More than half were left on the tables.
Not everyone wants a living creature to take home.
We got some mini bottles of Liquors in the States and added some chocolates along with a couple of Liquor glasses in a heart shaped box. The cello boxes looked very pretty on the tables and a taped "winner" on the bottom of one plate at each table was a hit. The winner obviously took home the centerpiece. So many good ideas other than fish.
We had a wonderful wedding for just over $5,000

I did my wedding really cheap. My main source was "Bridal Bargains" by Denise and Alan Fields. At the back of the book they have tons of sites listed. As far as the centerpiece, that sounds like a great idea. I also used orientaltrading.com and candlesjustonline.com
