My dress came with a paneling that rested between my back and the laces. I would check and see if yours should have came with one and if not, a seamstress should be able to make you one. If the rest of the dress fits properly this panel should work. If not, you might need to wear a girdle/body sucker.

Uh-oh, time to hit the treadmill, LOL! No, seriously- how much time before your wedding? If it's over a month, you can lose the weight by just cutting your calories in half and engaging in moderate exercise like walking for 20-30 minutes a day. If that doesn't appeal to you, definitely go get a "body shaper" from Victoria's Secret. This is a garment that sort of looks like a strapless swimsuit with biker shorts attached. What it does is suck you in and hold everything in place under clothes. You can lose as many as 4 inches by just stuffing yourself into a body shaper, from my experience. One word of caution, though: they are incredibly uncomfortable, and if you try to eat in them, you can give yourself one heck of a stomachache, so if you actually want to taste your reception food and cake, I would forego the body shaper and have the seamstress let your dress out enough so you can close the corset.

The corset isn't supposed to close completely. Generally, they come with a removable backing if you want a "closed" look. It comes with the dress, and should look seamless. (It fits under the eyelits of the corset, so the bump you may get looks like the crossing of the corset ribbon.)
Your sales lady should have asked you how "open" you wanted your corset (the larger the opening, the smaller the size) before ordering. If you indicated that you wanted it to close try to fight it with her; she should be able to send the dress back and get the right size (provided there were no other alterations).

Before you do anything,I would take the dress to a good seamstress and get ideas from her.Possibly try on the "girdle/bra thingy" under it if the store will allow that also may be another idea.
Good luck with whatever you decide.Congrats.

If the dress doesnt use a zipper...just to ribbon that ties it in the back then use a loner ribbon. You can also go to a seamstress and she can add a modesty panel in the back.

Try getting some black lace or ribbon of some sorts and threading it across the back, that was you can pull it as tight as you like it. Like this...

Sounds like you were mismeasured.
The back should close, and I think a gridle bra thingy would look weird. Remember - the sales lady makes money by making sales. Don't trust her judgement.
If you have already purchased the dress take it to a seamstress. If not, walk away.

does the bodice close with a zipper?
my best friend had to have her dress altered just hours before her wedding because we bought it an hour before the ceremony. thank go we had seamstresses on hand. because the dress was too small, they ended up doing a lace up with ribbon in the back using eyelets made of same colour of the wedding dress to cover up the area that didn't fit with the wedding. they tucked in the zipper area that didn't fit and made tiny incisions to thread the ribbon over a small piece of wedding dress material that was left over. It looked natural and no one ever noticed the modification.

Definitely take the dress to a seamstress. They will have a solution for you since they do this all of the time. I would personally rather have my seamstress fix it rather than wear the girdle/bra...they are uncomfortable (at least for me) and that is the last thing you want/need on your wedding day.

you could try having a seamstress letting it or trying to lose weight. I am not sure but it sound like another piece of material would not look right
