OK, the VCR/DVD combo will probably not have a hi-def output.
So in this case you can do one of several things:
You can run the RF output from the recorder to the RF input on the TV.
You could use a video and audio cable (L, R channel) to attach the recorder to one of the regular AV Inputs.
If the recorder has an S-Video output, use that on the TV side, or if it has an R-G-B (Red Green Blue) three cable output you can use that on the TV...
Note that since the video source is not HD, the picture will look crappy. That's the only way to put it.
Basically, just FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS that came with the TV.
You'll want to use component video cables. Plug them into the back of the VCR/DVD player (where it says OUTPUT) and then plug them into the HDTV's component video INPUT.
Or, if the VCR/DVD player and HDTV support HDMI, use that. It's an easier connection since it's just 1 connection vs. the 5 that component video uses.
Don't spend a ton of money on those stupid overpriced Monster brand cables. You shouldn't need to spend more than $15-20 on either a component video or HDMI cable - seriously.
It's so easy even I could do it. The connector plugs on the Visio are color coded to accept the plugs from the device.
Takes all of 3 minutes.
Great TV incidentally,
