World of warcraft authentication key help?

Question

ok, so today i went into my local game store and i went and bought world of warcraft which cost £10, it comes with the disk, authentication key and a free month of wow membership....

i got home, started my laptop up, uninstalled the existing world of warcraft from the 10 day trial i had been using and i then reinstalled it into my laptop.... while the new patch was downloading i decided to go on the wow website and put in the authentication key so i can play it....

i typed the digits in and pressed upgrade account and the worst thing happened, it said, "error accured please check you have typed in the authentication key correctly"...

i couldnt believe it, it didnt work so i tryed it again in capitals and it still didnt work.

the only possible thing i can think of why it isnt working is :-

1.) i still have 6 days left of the 10 day trial which needs to be used.

2.) my local game store didnt scan it to activate the code??

does anyone else know why it isnt working?

ive tried again and it still dont work :'(

i will wait another 6 days...well play for another 6 days on trial version before trying to type it in again

Just so you know, your account, characters, all items and gold are tied to your authentication key. Since you have been using the 10-day free trial, your existing characters and account are tied to the key that came with the trial.

If you install World of Warcraft and create a new account with the key that came with your discs, then you will be using a new account, and will not have access to anything gained during your 10-day free trial.

Troubleshooting:

--Did you use a Burning Crusade trial and are trying to install Classic WoW? Did you buy Burning Crusade without having WoW installed first?

--Were you using your existing account name with the new key? This will definitely cause errors, since the name and key are tied to the trial version. You will need to upgrade your trial account if you want to keep any of that progress.

--Your game store does not need to scan anything to activate it. The game discs and key, as well as game time cards are good to go out of the box. There is no activation process done at the store.

--Try "Upgrade Existing Account" when you go into Account Management on the World of Warcraft site. Since you've got your info on a free trial, you should upgrade that account instead of starting over. It will save you a lot of headache.

--If you cannot solve this issue in Account Management or with the FAQ on WoW's website, try calling their Customer Service line. They should be able to help you out.

the trail wouldnt have any thing to do with it. the only thing i can think of is that you have typed in you key wrong. the way the trail works it is upgradeable at any time so that wouldn't cause any problems. and it would be the scan because if they didn't scan it , it would have beeped when you left the store. so i say try and put the code in again, this time be extra carefull.

It's shame that there is nothing to do with your left free trial days.
firstly,make sure you do have your caps unlocked.
secondly ,checkout your keyboard and how many numbers you've typed. maybe there's something wrong with your keyboard'keystokes
If all these doesn't work,then go to the game store and ask them, BUT i don't thik the code patched with disk need activate.

btw,what kind of cord you bought? TBC or a new account code?
