What are some of the best graphic design sofware?

I frequent hip hop record pools and see many advertisement with some killer graphics and with me being a novice graphic artist I would like to know what they use.

Adobe Photoshop CS is mainly used for manipulating images and its a pixel-based program while Adobe Illustrator is mainly a vector-based program that allows you to basically draw digitally but producing lines, shapes, etc. based mathematically. You can definitely used one or the other or both at the same time to achieve really intense graphics. But more than anything to note is that these programs don't come to people Easily..Their list prices range in the thousand dollars mark. The best way to obtain these programs would be getting a student discount...to get it around 200-300$. Good luck!

I'm majoring in graphic design, and photoshop CS3 is my new best friend. it's absolutely AMAZING! you should download a 30 day free trial and try it out! also, you might want to buy or check out a book that tells you how to do all of the cool stuff. It's REALLY difficult to figure it out, but I bought "Photoshop CS3 for Dummies" and that is my bible.
The program is absolutely amazing. It's how every graphic is created.

Most likely you should try an adobe program; they can be alittle pricey(even the used ones) but they are the real deal. Try Adobe.com and if you sign up you can actually try any one of the programs they have FREE for 30 days to see if you like it. I recently got Adobe Illustrator and that helps perfect lines, contor,texture, shading ect. Trust me, try out Adobe you won't be sorry! There are even interviews with computer artists in schools that show you what they have created with Adobe programs.
