My wedding dress is gold. What colors should my reception be? Also the groom doesnt want the groomsman in tuxs

Does anyone have any cute ideas that the groomsman can all wear for a summer/fall outdoor wedding. He suggested jeans, blazers and sneakers. And what should the bridesmaids wear?

What if you had white and navy accents. I am not sure about denim for a wedding but if that is his style and you don`t mind it might be cool.

With white and navy accents the men could wear navy blazers with new white tees and khakis or white shirts and gold ties or French blue shirts with gold ties.

With a fall wedding they could wear navy blazers with rust or brown or some other fall colored tees. Or the French blue shirts with different fall colored ties: gold; rust; dark red; orange.

I personally would draw the line at sneakers but some cool dressy skater-type or bowling-type shoes would be cool in brown with either khakis or denim.

Then your bridesmaids (if you have not already picked their dresses) could be in navy with white and gold accessories or have the same style of dress in varying fall colors for the fall wedding.

This is a navy dress that would be very cool if the men wore navy blazers and tees.

Not sure if your gold dress is really formal though. You might want the women more dressy.

You could decide on navy and let them pick their own style too.

or since you are not wearing white your bridesmaids could for a summer wedding

It sounds cool to me. I did teal for my summer wedding years ago but I wish I had done navy and gold. I love that combo. And I do love the idea of men in navy blazers with white tees or shirts.

They could get these blazers and be able to use them again. And I think it is sharp yet laid back with a white tee.

I've seen several weddings where the groomsmen wore tropical style shirts. They were not brightly colored, just short sleeved, open collared, and a square hem worn outside over the pants. One on tv had them in tropical blue. They looked neat and nice, the shirts went with the maids dresses, and were appropriate for their beach wedding. And the shirt worn on the outside covers a multiple sins, like a big belly.
These shirts are made in a million colors, maybe a beige or white would compliment your gold dress.
PS: I've also seen them in outdoor weddings not at the beach. They look cool and comfortable.
Jeans, blazers and sneakers would be cute, but not on a hot day, the groomsmen would melt. I would put a short sleeved white open shirt, no tie, under it if hot temps are not an issue where you live.

To answer the part about the groomsmen and bridesmaids, you'll want to be sure that whatever direction you're going in, the two parties match in terms of formality.

It's your wedding, so if you're wearing a gold dress and the groom wants to go more casual, then the groomsmen could wear a less formal, lightweight suit. Linen, seersucker and cotton are all great options for summer/fall, assuming it's fairly warm where you are.

Look into Tommy Bahama shirts with lightweight jackets and khakis. The bridesmaids should look into J. Crew bridesmaid dresses. This would match well in terms of formality, and they're relatively affordable.

If you and the groom are really set on jeans and sneakers, then the bridesmaids should take the formality down a notch or two also. This might be trickier, to be honest. And the jeans and sneaks thing might not work if some jeans and sneaks are designer and brand spanking new, and others are ripped, worn and/or stained. It all depends on the aesthetic you are going for, but just think of your wedding photos and what you'll want to look back and see!

    Cheers & Good Luck!

This two part question is actually tied together...

I think Jeans are a no-no, unless you're having a barbecue wedding..and please no sneakers!!

But if you are going to go casual with the look, then you'd go casual with the colors of your wedding as well.

For instance, the tropical shirt idea is a good one. You can pair them with Khaki's and that would be good. Then your bridesmaids could wear matching or even not matching summer dresses. If it's summer/fall watch for your forecast--you could end up moving it inside.

And as for the colors and theme of your tables, you could do something tropical as well---tropical flowers and fruits that will have various colors in them.

Lastly, please be sure to mention on your invitations that this will be a casual wedding so your guests don't overdress!

Bright gold or soft gold? Gold and cream would look gorgeous and elegant together. The guys would either have traditional black tuxes with gold vests or ties, or cream tuxes witht the same. The colors could carry over into yur decor creating a very chic, elegant, and beautiful look.

If the groomsmen get to be informal, i'd let the girls get away with sun dresses. But i think i would at least say, guys have to wear like khakis or something. nothing to formal.
I would go with a simply reception, since you're wearing gold, try maybe silvry colors or light colors like white, maybe lite blue.

Burgendy looks nice with gold. So does hunter green or deep navy blue. Darker, more royal colors will look great.

As for the groomsmen, what about slacks, a button down shirt with a tie and suspenders? They'll look formal but won't be in full blown tuxes. Plus, they could get black suspenders with gold metal on them to accent your dress.

    how formal is your dress?

The guys can wear nice jeans (no rips) with black shoes and white shirts with black blazers and have a white flower with a gold accent. The girls in basic black dresses with white flowers with gold accents. They will all look great without being too off! I think that would look fine!

I would think that doing many weddings through the years with my band and seeing so many colors, I think burgundy with gold is strikingly beautiful. As far as the groomsman and bridesmaids should wear something nice and causal. Best Of Luck!

    ehhh- skip the sneakers.

if you're wearing gold, that kind of says "formal" on it's own.

can the girls wear a berry color?
