What does it mean to be a vampire?

Question

I'm trying to write an article on modern day vampires (for my website vampireresearch.wordpress.com, and would really like it if some actual vampires answered constitutes being a vampire to you, or the essence of being a vampire. Is it a burden? When did you first realize? I'm also open to non-vampires answering my question. Just state whether or not you're a vampire in the answer please.

Vampires are not like those in the movies or books, we don't drain unwilling victims of their blood. We have kind people who are called donors and they give us the blood or energy we need. Vampires are people who have energy deficiency and need to get that energy by taking it from other people. We don't die in the sun, can't fly, no super powers, can cross running water, garlic, holy water and the cross don't phase us (because we are not demons we are just different to normal people), we can see better at night than in the day, heightened senses, we do age(just not as fast) and we aren't immortal. There are three types of vampires sang vamp, psi vamp and hybrid.

Sang vamp is short for sanguinarian vampire these are the ones that need blood. They get sunburnt really fast(I can only last 30mins before getting sun burnt with sunblock on). They get sluggish durring the day but really active at night.

Psi vamp is short for psychic vampire. They don't drink blood but feed from chi energy instead. They can get this from touching somone or just being close to another person. The person doesn't even know most of the time and only feel a bit drained of energy but that goes away soon after. Most psi vamps don't even know what they are doing and can even feed while they sleep. They can also go to the astral plane.

I am a hybrid myself, we are both sang and psi vamps. I am more sang than psi though and need blood to get my energy but chi energy sustains me.

It's like being hungry all the time. Needing to feed is all fine and good if you keep at it regularly.. But if not It drags you down faster than anything else on the planet.. It's like being really depressed and hungry all the time and having nothing to stop it... I've seen good men and women driven mad by it many times before.. I first realized that humanity is insane and simple but i was hungry and complicated so that made me something different..

yes i am a vampire. a vampire isn't an un-dead creature from out of a horror film fest. we vampires are humans who don't have enough life energy. sanguanarius vampires feed on blood to get this energy where as psi use their mind and physic ability. vampires are more advanced than other humans in the way that we are stronger and faster of course not by much. i first realized about 3 months ago tomorrow. i find that its a burden because i do not have a donor making me feel uncomfortably unstable. i have had no more than a few drops of blood from a steak i had a week or so ago. as some one else said its fine and life is almost normal when you can feed regularly, but when you cant, you feel starved, lacking and lathargic. if you have any more detailed questions about us please don't hesitate to email me.

not a vampire, just a researcher.

from the basis of my knowledge, to be a vampire is to live eternally although it could just be a long extended lifespan (i havent had the time to find out or the heart to ask one). and then theres the basic hollywood stuff: aversion to daylight and holy places, consumation of blood, etc, etc.

the ones concerning vanishing, hypnotic eyes and turning into a flying rodent are either false or as yet un-researched.

well there is a group called the vampires in philledalphia or somewhere they hang around and drink dead peoples blood or something like that
