Do u agree with the $700 billion bailout proposal currently before the U.S. Congress?
If the companies involved are international and the effort to save jobs and homes are the backbone of the bailout, should the U.S. Government concerned itself with overseas jobs offered by the huge corporations in other countries. Shouldn't those other countries be responsible for their own unemployment figures and contribute to the bailout amount?
Shouldn't AIG and the rest of the corporations, investment banking houses, first borrow from its subsidiaries before asking the taxpayers for money. In the case of AIG, there is plenty of money available in the auto insurance affiliates to borrow from.
Adding the above considerations, the bailout amount would be substantially less than $700 billion....
Ur thoughts on the bailout....Good/Bad.

I am old enough to remember there was a big (WORLD) crisis after the vietnam war in about 1972, then there was a big (WORLD) crisis after the gulf war in 1992 and now there is a big (WORLD) crisis after the Iraq war.
All the talk in between is just talk for (or by) the people who have no memory or weren't around or were too slow to even connect the two things.
Personally I knew there was going to be a crisis in 1992 and that's why I sold my house while the market held, then when it crashed I bought two with the same money. I sold them when the USA went into Iraq and I just bought 3 and I possibly have enough to buy another two out of it..
I couldn't care less what the government does. They need to cough out the money or the whole place grinds to a halt, you surely don't want that, do you.

It's bad. Why is it MY problem that they screwed up? Why do I have to pay for their mistake? They don't come to our rescue when we've lost money. I am barely feeding myself, I can't afford to pay for their irresponsible mistake. Just because they fell out? I don't care! The economy is bad and I think we should let it naturally build up. They are trying to put us in a depression with this. They want it to get so bad that they take all of our assets, our values and leave us homeless without anything. I myself and getting non parishable items every time I go to the store and I save them in a box for whenever we are all too poor to buy anything because the value of American money is so poor. I know what's going to happen and we all need to prepare.

even this ferocious storm has a silver lining: its cathartic nature and the decisive policy response it is prompting could mark the beginning of the end of a 14-month crisis that has gripped the global financial system

None of us stands alone. Where will America be financially if she lets her overseas trading partners sink? What consequences will follow on from a policy that refuses to help out a friend or another in need? Does America show a sense of a responsibility in this instance, knowing that she is a wealthy country and that others are less blessed? At home, what will it mean for those Americans affected by an unhelpful Government response? Look on the bailout as an investment in the goodwill of others. America has no guarantee that she may not need such a helping hand herself some time in the future.

No. If it's a capitalist system let it function as such. Corporate welfare from the public coffers makes me sick. The American public (99%) just got raped.
