Help me understand. Does the U.S. economy really NEED the 700 billion dollar bailout?
If the average American will suffer economically either way, with or without the government bailout, why help out the CEO's who made shatty financial decisions? What ever happened to you reap what you sow?

The money isn't to bail out the ceo's it is to bail out the depositors. The average American is going to suffer, but it is the difference between 8% unemployment and 24% unemployment. The CEO's are generally going to be able to walk away from this, with or without the bail out. The American people are going to pay for this debacle either directly through taxes, which transfers 80% of the burden to the rich, or through job losses, home losses, inability to get student loans and business closings. Who should pay, the rich who profited on the way up, or the ordinary person who had nothing to do with it?

The US economy will collapse regardless to the 700 billion being passed or not. This system is corrupt and built up on debt. You can only go so far with it. Now it's time to prepare for the worst because we will see a long term depression lasting 3-6 years. Stock up on food, get a gun, and preferably find yourself a place out of the city. The next few years won't be as bright as the last few decades.

When you can't use your credit card next week because there is no more money that the banks will lend you - you'll change your tune.
