Which english football league do you compare the american MLS(major league soccer)?

I'm not sure what answer you're after, but here's the best I can do.

In the UK, there are 4 main leagues: The Premier League, The Championship and then League 1 and League 2

The top teams of each league move up a league at the end of a season, and the bottom teams drop a league.

I would estimate based on what I've seen of MLS that the standard of play is equivalent to Championship football in the UK.

Premier league teams occasionally play MLS teams for exhibition games, but it's pretty rare.
