I am not sure what the original poster was talking about, whether not he was better off with his/her parent's discipline or he never had discipline and this made him better off.

But back to the question at hand. I am not sure about the type of at home parents Brandon crisp had.

I do however know that media is refusing to give a view point which does not defend and shelter the parents from responsibility for this tradgedy.

And albeit it is a tragedy and a gross one at that. But I do believe branding Brandon's parents as mourning and therefore exempt from any criticism as the Xbox was just catalyst in the series of unfortunate consecutive events but not the cause.

Negligence was the cause, let us wake up because although blame can be split history rembers singular cause and effect.

Plesae let us have some coverage of the flip side of this event.

Thank you

    NO.
Brandon Crisp has parents just like mine and for all the times I troubled them by storming out of the house for some misbegotten reason it's a damn wonder I was able to come home after I've cooled off.
His parents were concerned enough to correct his behaviour just like mine were so long ago. The difference is that Brandon had a fatal mishap and his family will feel the guilt till the grave opens up to take them away from their grief.
I can assure you his parents were not negligent.

I did follow the Brandon Crisp news stories. Lets take a look at what information was released. Brandon was into minor sports ( hockey ) he played goal and was exceptional at the position he played. Due to being small for his age, there became a time when he sat mostly on the bench and no longer in the game. At that point he left his favourite sport and turned his life to Xbox360 on line gaming. Again like most things Brandon was an exceptional game player and play the game Call of duty 4 Modern Warfare. He became addicted to this game, he was up most of the night playing and returning home ( when he was supposed to be at school ) and playing. He needed money for some reason and was stealing from his parents. His Xbox was taken away after a argument with his parents on Canadian Thanksgiving day. He made the threat to leave home ( this was not the first time Brandon had run away ) With that his father helped him pack his back pack, thinking like the last time he would be back in a few hours. To me this was a the worst part and never should have happened. Brandon left on his mountain bike and asked directions to a near by town. On the way his bike had a flat tire and he abandoned it in a ditch, along a trail he was riding on. Hundreds of searchers looked for any signs of Brandon and the news spread all over the world. His picture was in every paper and on every TV channel. He was a exceptional beautiful child and touched the hearts of thousands. His mountain bike had been picked up as it was thought to be abandoned. This individual came forward with the bike.
After weeks of searching his body was found up againt a tree. It is suspected he fell from this tree and caused trauma to his chest area. How long before death came, we do not know as yet. He must have suffered badly. It would appear the parents wanted the best for Brandon. His up bringing was in a Catholic home and school. Right or wrong, I sometimes wonder if the home was a bit too strict, was there good communication. This no one can really say. But from what I read the neighbours had praise for the Crisp family. I am sure like many teens brandon was angry, but if he had not had the accident, he would have returned home. However, he may have returned home earlier, if the parents had not helped him pack. Hes was probaly cold, very scared, and felt he could not go home at that time because he felt his parents no longer wanted him. I think this is sad. Brandon taught the parenting world a huge lesson. I know myself, I have become much better and have much more love and understanding.
Sadly a beautiful, beautiful boy has died.
    This should have never happened.
All I can say now is God Bless Brandon and take him in your arms and keep him safe and warm. Brandon became part of our family and many others as well.
My opinion and the opinion of Brandon's parents as well is that NO CHILD should be banned from playing minor sports, because of his size Brandon was 5 foot 2 and only 100 pounds. They are setting up a foundation in memory of Brandon. The foundation will help children thats parents can not afford the money to pay for minor sports. This I think is a great thing they are doing. I am sure they were good parents and as all parents do thought they were doing the right things. My answer to your question is no they were not.
