1616 Ouellette Ave. is not a place I would recommend anyone to live, unless of course there are no other options. This is the kind of building that you cross the street just to not have to walk next to it.
I grew up in the same neighbourhood as that building and have had several friends who have lived there throughout the years. A couple of friends of mine that lived there a few years ago were complaining one summer about a stench that invaded the halls and their apartment. As it turns out it was a dead body rotting in one of the units for a couple of weeks. Another friend of mine was robbed in the main hallway at knife-point by a couple of the local crackheads that often frequent the building(and residents I assume).
I've also heard that areas of the building may be haunted, but I really don't have any first hand stories to substantiate those claims.
It was, and still is a common occurrence to see an ambulance or two taking somebody away and the police there to investigate and arrest those involved. Loud drunken parties are the norm and not just on the weekends. Also there was and I assume still is a rat/roach problem in most if not all apartments.
The building as a whole is completely outdated, from the ancient elevator, to the windows that scream out "circa 1930's". It was formally a hotel, name unknown at this time and actually Queen Elizabeth once stayed there in what is now apartment 230 and 201.
I'll post a little Windsor Star article that I found as well.
