It's a metropolis of mixed ethnics. We don't think it's the centre of the universe nor of Canada but the way my fellow Canadians go on about it you'd think that they think it's the centre of the universe!
Honestly; I've been all over Canada and the response is the same; It's too big, it's humongous, it's overcrowded it's violent, it's narcissistic etc,. etc., etc..
It's my hometown. I haven't lived there for six years now but I do know it has everything I need except a decent place to live at a decent rent.
There is the arts, the entertainment, the sports, the transit system, the trees, the communities, the atmosphere, and of course downtown proper. With all those sky scrappers yes it is hot in the summer but have you ever been to the Islands on a hot summer day? It's always a cool day there. I've lived in the west end for thirty years and even on the hottest days my backyard was cool. Trees are a beautiful and natural air conditioner.
A lot of traffic, a lot of people, a lot of nationalities and a lot of adventure.
In all the years I've lived there I've never been robbed, but six years in this village here and I've had a lot of property stolen out of my own backyard.
Sorry, but Toronto is not the centre of the country, it is rich I'll grant you that but it's the envy of other cities that put us "Torontonians" down.
Every one loves to hate Toronto. That's too bad becuase there really isn't anything wrong with it; no more than Winnipeg, Vancouver, Halifax, Calgary or Edmonton.
We don't think we are the centre of the universe, the rest of Canada does.
