Is it better to place an LED TV at eye level or higher up?
i feel its better to place it higher up; better posture, your eyes are more open, generally more attentive and it feels better to me atleast. thoughts?

Eye level should be about 1/3 up from the bottom of the screen. So if for instance your screen is 30" high, then eye level should be 10" up from the bottom of the screen.
It's not an exact science but that's a good rule of thumb. If necessary, eye level can be as high as the middle of the screen so try to get somewhere in that range - 1/3 to 1/2 up from the bottom.
Placing it higher up can give you neck strain when watching for long periods of time and depending on the viewing angle of your set, you can lose color fidelity unless you were to angle it downward.
I also find it more involving to be looking straight at the tv rather than up at it. Also you want your speakers right at ear level as well.

My LCD is mounted a couple foot above eye level. The farther away from little hands the better in my book... ;-)

Possibly. I wouldn't place a LCD-based TV (LCD, LED) TOO high though, as the viewing angles on these models are narrower than for CRT or plasma, and you won't see the full contrast or color accuracy.
