Heres the deal..I am 31 and now have to find someones kid to take with me so i don't look like a weirdo trick or treating. I love it though and dont think there should be an age restriction! As long as you dress up and are respectful I think its totally fine. When I do give out candy, I have to say i hate all these older teenagers who come to the door without a costume (or some cheesy thing like street clothes and a fake knife) and have an attitude like the world owes them candy. Again if you are dressed up and enjoying it go for it

Man, i was like 12 and some lady told me I was too old to be doing that. That was the last time I went. She spoiled it for me. (And I did have a costume)... sigh... life.

I once dressed up as a giant cradboard GameBoy Color that I made myself. I once dressed up as Pikachu. I'm 18 years old and I am still unable to ditch the costumes. I believe that you outgrow breathing long before you outgrow childhood traditions if that's what you truly loved deeply as a kid.
Get a nice costume and I'll gladly give you candy! I've seen older kids dressed as toothpaste, fridges, candy bars, and all sorts of things. Halloween isn't just for kids. If you take the time to make a cool costume, you deserve the candy.

I stopped when I was 17. Too many rude comments from residents. Saying that I'm too old for trick or treating. My last time was at age 16. I'm 21 now, never did it again.
Some areas have age limits to trick or treating, so be aware of that. I know my hometown 'suggests' age 12 as the end of trick or treating, however anyone older who wishes to trick or treat must be accompanying smaller children and the treat givers don't have to give you anything. It's their choice.

lol..I just was thinking about my cousin(we around the same age) and I took her son trick or treatin.. she has a daughter that was 15-16 at the time, was told 2 stay in the house and give out candy. but she said the hell with that and went trick or treatin, she got in trouble but it was so funny!!

You are too old to go alone. You will in fact look like a wierdo, but you can chaperone kids in the local community no problem and get candy along with them.

My town now has an age restriction. Their complaint was that since there were so many older kids out, they'd run out of candy quicker. Now, Halloween in my town always looks dead.

If you go only to people's houses whom you know and who will appreciate it, then maybe you could get away with it, but for most people, having an adult show up at their door after dark is pretty frightening. I was 12 when I was told by the neighbors that I was too old, and I was short looked young.

All you need is a kid to go with so you don't look weird. You're never too old to trick or treat. You just need a kid to tag along. And if teens dressed in street clothes go up to you asking for candy, saying that they're gangsters or rappers, give them Rocks.

I totally agree with this. I went around with friends last year in a costume. I had no intention of asking for candy but ended up with some any ways just because some people just enjoy handing it out.

- I don't think there's any age limit. As long as you have fun going door to door, why not? (Though I don't go trick or treating myself, I still love to dress up and pass out candy to the kids. I love it!)
- I'm almost 19 and I still go. It's all part of the fun, I think when I hit 20 I'll probably stop, but as long as they keep handing out candy I'm up for it lol.

Me - when i was in high school i did the halloween thing with a girl, it was a great opportunity for a unique date.
