His masterpiece, and one of the funniest things ever written, is his play _The Importance of Being Earnest._ The other plays are good too, but this one is absolutely perfect, one funny line after another, and economically presented too: it's short.

I find _The Picture of Dorian Gray_ a disconcerting book--sometimes amusing, sometimes tedious, cleverly done as a whole and revealing enough about Wilde. I also enjoyed Richard Ellmann's biography of Wilde, one of the best literary biographies ever written.

I strongly recommend 'The Picture of Dorian Gray'. It's a Gothic novel about a young man who wants to stay young forever, and accidentally traps his soul into a painting of himself, so that the painting ages but he doesn't . It's the kind of book the makes you think-- not to mention its killer ending. Great book, one of my faves , definitely.
