I gave up on wanting to be with the guy I've liked for a long tiem. Now he's texting more frequently. Why?

And so there's my guy (whom I like) and, this guy friend (friend of mine who I've been hanging out with) and the friend texted "my guy" back and told him that I am awesome and he's glad I am no longer taken. It appears that my guy was bummed out and continued to text and asked who this guy was. He seemed hurt and he KEPT TEXTING ME. I don't get it because he never really made an effort when he knew he could be with me. And now that he can't, he is showing lots of interest, through text that is.

What the heck is going on here?

Im in the same situation...just like the 1st young lady said, guys want what the simply can't have. You were able to move on and find someone (which i applaud you for doing), and that itself can be painful to a certain extent. Most men let their ego's stand in the way of their true feelings, while some just dont want to commit and choose not to hurt the female in which they've come to know and/or like.
**My ex still to this day texts, ask questions about my current boyfriend, and his reason's for doing those things is "I'm just curious". He know he's lost a good woman, and now is trying to find ways to express it, and be NOSEY!!!
My advice would be to protect your feelngs, and continue to push forward in life. Respect your current friend feelings, and the situations at hand. The guy friend, can be just that, or he can be the person you want and persue---but I feel you should stray away from him cause he lost the opportunity!!

when a guy knows that you like him...and then he sees that you are getting away...he's trying to have you like him again...just for ego! I know...it happened to me too...

The guy knew i likes him cause i told him...once, he told me that since he has a gf, he would do anything. i said i know...i got over you...
after that, he tried to have me like him again...and he finally quit his gf lolll

It probably goes back to philosophy that guys want what they can't have. Maybe that's the case here. But I would not break up with the person you are with now. See how it works, but if you do or do not feelings for the other guy let him know. You don't want to string anyone along. Hope this helps :)
