Where should i place my firewood rack?

I had planned to put it in the corner of the garden out the way. But my neighbour suggested it should be closer to the building and in the afternoon sun.

This time of year it doesn't matter. If you plan to dry you wood out next year the best advice is.

in a position with afternoon sun which gets a good breeze through the wood

This site might be of help http://www.firewood-rack.org/

I would place it where it's more convenient to get to the wood in the dead of winter rather than considering having it out of the way or where it gets the most sun. Why closer to the building? Wood piles tend to attract insects and pests and blocks of wood will grow just as fast in the shade as in the afternoon sun.
