How do I get the black stuff off my wood floors?

We pulled up the carpet and underneath there was this black hard stuff and it is not easy to get off. We have been sanding it but it take forever. It there any easier way to get it off?

Try a little bit of gasoline, paint thinner, or even nail polish remover.

I don't know if there is an easy way, you might try Lowe's or Home Depot, or another home improvement store in your area. They may know what to recommend. I know there is a kind of cleaner for outside wood decks but even that takes elbow grease.

Maybe an adhesive remover? Spray it on and let it sit for about an hour and use a scraper and scrape it off.
