Me and my bestfriend like the same guy, what do i do?

So, me and my bestfriend shelby have been on and off bestfriends for almost 2 years. She kinda likes this boy ronnie and then me and her went to our friends birthday party and he was there too. that was the first time i really talked to ronnie and shelby sits at lunch with him, so when we went to bed me and shelby planned on sleeping on this footon, and ronnie sleeps on the floor. we ended up all spooning to fit on the footon, and for the majority of the time ronnie was spooning me and we were playing footsies and he told me i was beautiful when shelby was in the bathroom and he was playin with my hair and kissed my head when he acsidentilly hit me and his arm was all around me and we fell asleep after several hours of all of us talking. So, im pretty sure he likes me more than shelby and will sometime soon ask me out. Considering shelby, my bestfriend likes him too, what would/should i say??

sorry for the long extra info. (:

I would say no, if he asks you out. Why? Because, this has bad idea written all over it. Think about it, you both like this guy, and Shelby is bound to be hurt if you go-out with Ronnie.

She's really going to be hurt, if she finds-out you two were playing footsy and he was kissing and playing with your hair. I understand that you and her have a bit of a turbulent relationship, and your friendship has been on-again and off-again for the past two-years, but I'm pretty sure this would damage the friendship. If you and Ronnie date, that may be the end of you and Shelby as friends.

All three of you are pretty young. I give the relationship a week, maybe a month at the most, if you and Ronnie were to date. Is ruining your friendship with Shelby worth all that. If nothing else, I say just be friends with Ronnie. You don't have to date every guy you have a crush on. Infact, you can be friends with some of the guys you have crushes on. Being friends with him may be a good way to spend time with Ronnie, without harming your friendship with Shelby.

If he asks you out, just tell him, no. Explain to him that you do like him, but your friend Shelby likes him too, and then ask him if you can all just be friends instead. Guys pretty much have the same rule, not to date someone that their friend likes, so he'll understand.

There will be other guys. Most of those other guys, she'll have no interest in, and you'll be able to date freely, without jeopardizing the friendship. Just don't pursue this guy.

It's possible you wont remain friend with Shelby forever, and you and her have already been on-again, off-again, for the past two-years, but don't do something to guarantee that your friendship will end. Also, creating drama between friends, will only ensure that drama will also form between you and Ronnie and that will ruin any chances for you and him too. There is no future with him, except maybe as a friend. There will be other guys. Just be patient.

Best of luck in life and love. :-)
