Wedding dress shopping?
I am getting married 11/20/2010 and have not yet found my wedding dress. I wanted to make an appointment at Davids Bridal to go and try on wedding gowns but I do not want to buy that day, I plan on going by myself and picking out a few I like and then bring my mom and cousin with me to a second appointment so they can see the dresses and help me choose.
Is it okay to do this?
Additional Details
I was jsut worried if it was appropraite to have two different appointments at the same wedding dress shop or if that was not "proper" wedding dress shopping etiquette

Good grief, girl, stop stressing. You have OVER A YEAR yet, and there will be TONS OF SALES where you can get a great deal. Don't lock yourself into the overpriced David's Bridal--all of their stuff looks the same.
You don't HAVE to buy at a bridal shop, and don't let them push you.
You might also want to go to these wedding dress sales they have at varying department stores (where dresses worth thousands go for a few hundred) and give that a go.
You would be well advised to wear a "catsuit" with a car coat over it when you go to one of those, though, because they don't have a fitting room in many cases--you have to try the things on in the aisles! If you have a good idea of what you want, though, you can get a great deal.
Don't RUSH. What you like now, you might HATE come next summer, and LOATHE a year from now.
Some ladies don't settle on a dress until a few months before they marry.

That's just fine. I would however recommend that you do NOT sign up for ANYTHING! Do not give them your phone number or e-mail address. They sell your number to marketing companies. I have been through hell and back with them!!
Also, David's Bridal is a good place to start as you will get a good idea of what looks good on you yet you should consider looking at other places too. I was so sure I was going to buy my dress at David's Bridal until I looked at smaller boutiques which tend to offer better quality dresses.

Of course! A wedding dress is something that you need to take time to choose, it is what you wear on one of the most important days of your life and lets face it, it's not going to be cheap! Think of a bridal store like a designer clothing store, they really want you to buy their stuff and so the staff are much nicer and more accommodating because of it, they will be absolutely fine with you going in twice :0)

Yes, it is perfectly fine to do this. In fact, it's smart to tell yourself that you aren't going to buy anything - it takes off the pressure to make a big decision in a short time. This way, you can think about it.
