Why does a guy act like an idiot and really weird around the girl he likes?

probably because he's of the age when guys *mean* to say, "hello. i think you're awfully cute, and i would like to get to know you better," but the closer they get to the girl, the more their brain stretches itself out, ties itself into a firm knot and ceases to function on any reasonable level. because when he gets close to her, there's an electrical storm running around in there and none of the parts of his brain are talking to any other parts of his brain. so he winds up acting like a goof and, once he's out of the sphere of influence, he feels like an absolute idiot, which only guarantees that, the *next* time he tries to talk to her, it'll all happen again, only louder.

guys really have a hard time of it.

(the female version of this generally manifests as the giggles, which become more intense as the object of desire comes nearer.)

I don't know. It's an impulse I had in highshcool. It's hard not to do it now. Some girls just drive you out of your mind!

Usually when he is unsure of himself and does stupid things to cover his inner feelings. Very common is the fear of rejection. Almost all people fear rejection, it is part of the game.

*I have a bf now, but when I was single and would be around a guy I liked it seems like I just said and did the most stupid things. It was really embarrassing, I absolutely hated it. When I would see him first, I would avoid him just so I wouldn't make an @$$ out of myself again* btw, I was very shy.

It is usually because he isn't sure how you would react if he told you he liked you. He is probably just experimenting with your emotions. You never know, one day he might be pulling your hair, the next he might be sitting next to you talking. This is usually more common in younger boys. Some boys avoid their feelings by saying insulting things or trying to act like an "idiot"
