How can playing hard to get backfire?

I've been told to play hard to get towards this girl that I really like (and I'm pretty sure she has the same feelings towards me). but I'm worried that if I play hard to get that I might send the wrong message towards her. how can playing hard to get backfire? 10 points to best answer (details help) Thanks

dont play hard to get, girls dont generally like that. we like guys that are open. she might misread the signals and think your being a jerk or are mad at her. trust me, tell her how you feel

Well, the main way it can backfire is that you come off as rude or she really might not be interested in you that way. You can still be polite, but don't go out of your way or express any interest, that's supposed to peak her's. Good luck and I hope all goes well,
