I just found out that one of my kidneys is only functioning at 3%. Should get the H1N1 vaccine?

I have end-stage kidney disease and I got the H1N1 vaccine yesterday.
Kidney disease affects the human body in many different ways, and getting the vaccine is basically an insurance because kidney patients are at a higher risk level of developing complications that could be fatal.
Kidney patients are weaker and less resilient to infection so a vaccination can protect against potentially dangerous disease.
The H1N1 vaccine is recommended for everyone, and doubly recommended for those with kidney disease.

As a victim of H1N1 I didn't find the illness extraordinary compared to a flu, it was a fever that lasted 3-4 days and I'm fully recovered now but I have no problems with my kidneys.
I advise you to get the vaccination if possible and as soon as possible, if you're thinking of not taking the vaccination then you should ask a doctor if that is an option or whether the consequences would be too dangerous.

Check with your MD, but generally, vaccines have no effect upon kidneys.
