What is your opinion on astrology and what do you think about it?
Here's mine:
First, Ptolemy created it out of thin air 1700 years ago. Its the combination of psychology and astronomy "constellations"... which is someone's interpretation of objects in the sky made up of stars... you could make up your own and create your own astrology and be just as legit. Next is the psychology part. Someone decided to add personalities to the signs. This is where the money part comes in. There were originally 13 signs, they dropped one so they could sell it with 12 calender months.
There is no logic, facts, or proof, that anything exists between astronomy and psychology except random opinions made up by people with no logic or facts or proof. You need no credentials to be a psychic - all you have to do is claim to be psychic with no proof.
There ya go - wrap your thoughts around burned out stars light still traveling to earth in non fixed positions. Someone making their own objects out of the stars light in the sky(there are billions of objects you could create), then someone adding personalities to the objects they came up with. Then, someone else adding birth dates to those signs and assuming your personality is a certain way--->>> because of the couple people that made up THEIR interpreations of the stars + adding personalities to their objects + them illocially saying your birthday and their objects you're born under has something to do with your personality. The illogical completely factless astrology is born as you know it today.
100% fun
0% reality - the best you will ever do is randomness and coincidence.

Your statement needs much adjusting.
The idea predates Ptolemy by centuries. The origins are lost to history. Mainly multiple god cultures have their own independent form of astrology that contradict each other. Most stars have variable brightness so some cultures took these as omens. About two thousand years ago there was 12 signs because it divides easy. Due to precession now there is 13 and that is a prime number. Early Roman calendars had 10 months but astrology was still 12 signs. None of the outer planets were known until after the telescope was invented.
Long before then, astrology was through with observing planets and became fortune telling system. Mainly for the nobility that had the money to spend and more likely had birth records. The main population did not have either. In modern times, people have more disposable and some still embrace superstition. Astrology makes millions off the gullible.
Astrology had nothing to do with psychology until more modern times, when some quacks decided that it may make astrology respectful. Astrology lives to stereotype though there is no statistical evidence that will confirm any of it's claims. The astrology chart is a prop, the astrologer is assumed to be a "psychic". Otherwise computers would be more useful, accurate, and unlikely to "miss anything".
Astrology can never be anything other than a belief based substitute religion. That is bigoted. It may have a history, but it never makes history.
Edit: If I have an obsession, it is to seek out the truth and share it with others. I'm just one of those people that would rather know than blindly believe and speculate.

I think it's tiring and stereotypical.

i think it's fun and good for self exploration. like when i read things off my birth chart, it's pretty cool to realize something about myself that i never did before. and astrology has helped me a lot. i mean, the stereotypical stuff upsets me and makes me mad, but it is fun. but i don't base life descisions off of it, i believe life is what you make it.
i know this probably wasnt very helpful.

It's not even worth thinking about...
Though it's surprising there are so many people who actually believe in this stuff, but if it makes them happy, why not :D

If your extensive, extensive research into astrology is what led you to the belief that Ptolemy was the one who "created it out of thin air 1700 years ago" then I would suggest doing more research.
In failing to actually research the subject adequately, and instead simply adopting mistaken notions like that from other skeptic websites that you came across, you show yourself to be no more intelligent or scientific than those who you've attempted to criticize here. Congratulations.

Regardless of what you, I or anybody else thinks there will always be speculation when it comes to our own beliefs and the beliefs of others. Logic and proof mean nothing when it comes to what's in your heart. It's what you believe is true. I'm a firm believer in God and there are many people in this world who aren't. I would never press something on someone to the point of pure ignorance.
It strikes me as odd that ChainLightning ⅜ is a Top Contributor for Horoscopes and none of this appeals to him. It comes off as an obsession, no offense.
I get that we all have our own opinions but is it really necessary to put others down for what they happen to find fun and interesting? What others believe in doesn't effect me. I am my own person, with my own beliefs -- as we all are :]
