I want to live on a farm but...?

My great-grandma use to live on a farm with all of her children. When all of her kids moved out and her husband died, she felt that she needed some company so now she lives with her son, daughter-in-law, and their kids. My Pappy didn't want to see the farm go, so he kept taking care of it and the animals even though nobody was there. I loved that farm SO much! But when I was 6, my pappy died, and they decided to sell all of the animals because there would be no one to take care of them. I offered to take care of them but how could a 6 yr old take care of cows, pigs, chickens, alot of dogs, etc. I was so crushed, I couldn't stop crying. Now my mom and I are looking to move somewhere and she wants to live in a huge neighborhood in a little house. She is going to make her final deal on Monday to get the house built, but I really want to convince her that we should move to the farm and rebuild my great-grandma's old house. I'm almost 14 yrs old now, so I told her I would take care of all the yardwork (mowing) and I would take care of animals (if we got some). Does this sound like a good idea? Do I not know what I'm getting into? Advice will help thanks, and sorry this is so long :)

Additional Details

I know that it's alot of work, but I was also thinking that alot of land would be nice when I have friends over, because in a little house, we would have not very much of a yard.

It's your Mum who's putting up the money, so it's her decision. And, if you still feel this way when you yourself are buying a house then you could consider buying a farm.

At your age, schoolwork and having friends should be a priority. Maybe working on a farm or a Master Gardener's program during the summers would be a good start. After you get out of school, you can work on getting the farm with a little more knowledge of the work involved. I have a half Acre lot that I am slowly turning parts into a farm and it is a lot of work.
    Good luck with your dreams.

You failed to mention who would pay for the food the animals would need. Your Mother knows what she can afford and is probably doing what she can.

    you say "rebuild" the house?
that is a major undertaking. ten years ago my family moved into a really small house built in the '20s. we still haven't finished all the repairs on it and some of the things we fixed 10 years ago need work again. building a new house from the ground up may be better cost wise, also if your mother is working in town than living in town is better for her too.
older houses are amazing, and living with lots of land and animals is nice.
we only had three and a half acres. but well had chickens, duck, a donkey, lots of goats, as well as cats and a couple of dogs.
taking care of the animals is a massive undertaking just keeping all the water buckets full is tedious.
how ever if you do manage to convince your mother to move to the country then a couple of goats (unless you have a garden) and a few chickens are great to have.
and if you want a farm type animal you could see if your mother would let you get a dwarf goat if y'all move in town.
