Why is the USA the only "civilized" nation that gives it's citizens the right to bear arms?

Guns should be banned! If you have a gun that means you intend to shoot; you shoot to kill!

So what if someone breaks into your house; you have no right to take someones life. Did you ever think that this man or woman may be poor and are desperate?

Why do gun owners say the USA is a Christian nation? I am an atheist!

Doesn't the Bible say to strip your house of it's belongings and give it to the poor?

Ban guns NOW and bring the USA into the 21st century! Europe has banned guns for example Germany has had a ban on guns since 1938!

Dream on hippie Liberal. You are the reason we have a 2nd Amendment. Why do people like you spend their time trying to think of ways to take away other people's rights? No chance, loser...

Because America is the only country in the world which has gone straight from barbarianism into decadence without any period of civilization between the two.

Because OUR CONSTITUTION gives us that right. If we ban guns, do you seriously think thugs will gladly give them up? In case you don't know, this country was founded on Christianity. That does not mean only christian are allowed, but Gods laws(think the 10 commandments since you read the bible) are darn good for everyone. Also quoting the bible out of context is never a good thing.

no country in europe bans guns, you can still get handguns and most others in germany, their just realy hard to get.

the only problem with america is everyone is given a firearms license as soon as they turn 18, even if they are broke, drug dealing and with no intentions of using the tool for hunting or marksmanship. in europe you must be either a dedicated target shooter or a hunter.

It is a natural right to obtain the means to defend yourself. Any country that limits your right to self defense is a country that will enslave its people.

    MY VIEW
"Guns don't kill people... People kill people."

-In the US, 58% of the people own guns.

Only 7% of violent crimes actually use guns.
And in that 7%, 80% of those criminals got the guns illegally.
So do you really think those that would use a gun as a weapon against other humans, is actually going to give it up, just because the government told them to?
The only thing that gun control would do is take guns away from the responsible people, and leave them defenseless.

And as for accidents, hunters aren’t against the idea of gun safety courses, and other precautions, as long as you don’t take there guns!

    FACTS AND QUESTIONS
    307,745,071 people in America
In the US, 58% of the people own guns.
Only 7% of violent crimes actually use guns.
And in that 7%, 80% of those criminals got the guns illegally.
30,896 deaths by guns. 55% suicides, only 41% homicides.
43, 910 people dead from car accidents.

-About half of the deaths caused by guns, are suicides

-Why should many be punished for the likes of a few.

-Why would a bad guy start following the law now, all gun control will

-do is make the good people defenseless.

-It states it in the 2nd amendment.

I think you're premise is incorrect. Switzerland allows its citizens to be armed to the teeth.
The answer lies in the 4th amendment which protects citizens from unreasonable seizures by the government. The issue is not whether citizens have a need for guns, the but what compelling state interest that state has in depriving you of that particular possession. The answer is that the state has no compelling interest in taking guns from law abiding citizens who have never demonstrated any danger to society. I believe the saying goes "If you ban guns, only criminals will be armed."
As far as your self-defense question goes, yes, most burglars/robbers are poor, desperate, or drug addicted. However, that does not make them any less dangerous. For that reason, many states have adopted laws that allow a homeowner to use deadly force for an intruder as a matter of personal safety. However, individuals who choose to be armed should be certain that they are able to use a firearm vice an intruder being able to steal their weapon and subject the homeowner to greater danger.

So what you are saying is:

Just because someone comes into your home to rob you at gun, knife point, or as a violent criminal group, threatening violence or committing violent acts against you while stealing anything you have of value in your home....... doesn't mean you have the right to protect yourself.

Is that what you are saying? Do yourself a favor and go sit in a court room as an observer and take a look at the damage that is done to people by people who have committed acts of violence.

Besides Europe has just as much violence as the United States if not more with or without guns. I don't know about anyone else but, I am tired of hearing our country compared with the European Continent when they are not doing any better than we are.

hello i don't own a firearm. but i'm an american, and a vet, and here's my constitutional right to bare arms, if your not happy with it then, move. sorry but let's say a nut job becomes a leader of this nation, and says all atheists must die like hitler did to the jews. sorry but i don't have blind faith in my leaders aka lawyers. obviously you haven't been wrongly convicted or subject to scrutiny enough. lets say you go out to a bar and have 1 glass of wine you come out happy, and the police or a form their of, arrests you. it happens in a lot of third world countries, which if we keep feeding the youth in this country the media pablum it can or will happen. also if this so called nut job makes it illegal for two people to coexist in the same house unless their married. we as a people should be able to peacefully march and shout and be heard against our leaders. and if they use force, that we as americans feel is unjust, we the people should be able to rise up and fight, to be heard. you need to do history a little bit more. go back and look at the unjustifiable way the coalminers were treated or the railroad workers were treated. and how the government, backed the business owners. until we the people said their are more of us than there or of you. and if that's to long ago, look at kent state when people peacefully marched against the war in Vietnam, and were unarmed, and were shot and killed by the national guard. and if you need something current, how about waiting for a subway and instead of the man tazering you he accidentally shoots you. so basically what i'm trying to say is maybe you should look at it little more closely. TODAY YOU MIGHT FEEL ITS OK BUT YOU CAN'T SEE TOMORROW UNTIL ITS HERE.and just because you own a firearm that doesn't mean you can't feel love or sadness. oh yeah i have not religious affiliation either.

PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN SEXUALLY ASSUALTED AND CAN ONLY FEEL SAFE, AND PRODUCTIVE IN SOCIETY. WITH THE RIGHT TO BARE ARMS.

Actually Norway has the highest percentage of gun ownership of western countries.

Norway even has a national holiday, just for shooting sports.
