Why is red meat bad for you?
I love red meat and eat it about 4 times a week. I cut most of the fat off. Why is it supposed to be so bad? Is it true that it can stay in your digestive system for a long period of time? Thinking of a sirloin for dinner!
Cheers

Eating red meat at every sitting is bad for you. The occasional consumption of a good, reasonably lean read meat, is not. Red meat has a lot of iron and amino acids. It's great protien that builds muscle and bone and stays with you through a long, energy using day. You don't need much, just 4 oz is plenty and satisfying.
It does tend to be more expensive however, as red meat, ( pork and beef) is generally more costly to convert from feed to product. Pork has the highest feed to product ration, meaning in order to get a pound of it, your market piggy has to consume 10 to 12 lbs of feed. Beef is somewhat better, at a 1 to 8 ration. Chicken is obviously the best food converter followed by rabbit.
As far as staying in your digestive system, it doesn't stay any longer than any other meat product. If you round off your diet with lots of fiber from fruits and vegetables, it's going to move along with everything else. You do get more energy from it that fruits and veggies, just due to the protien and fat in it. Naturally.
Are you having a baked potato and fresh spinach salad with that sirloin? I'll be right over!

- Cheers, feel less guilty now. Steak went down well! I had a baked potato and salad with it. No spinach unfortunately, none in the cupboard. Love spinach too. Going to cut down, I love fish as well, but I find it difficult to eat a meal without meat/fish - doesn't seem to satisfy. Maybe I'm weird.

Well you are eating animal blood.
this is high in cholesterol.
And you are eating hormones force fed to cows to make then huge. so you're eating animal steroids. Nice..
MEat stays insode you for a long time and starts to rot in your intestine.
We are not designed for the ddisgestion of meat, so the intestine doesn't know what to do with it.
Eat vegetarian, you'l be healthier, and you won't have rotting meat in your guts,k and no cholesterol or animal fat in your blood stream.Animal eaters get cancer and heart attacks, and generally don't look very good, Vegetarians llive much longer and look healthier, feel healthier etc.
