Becoming a vegetarian!Help!?

I'm, pretty sure I have no doubts about becoming a vegetarian- not vegan- I couldn't live without cheese and eggs and cooked food! And- yes- I just turned 12! I dont know how to break the news to my parents- and they havent notice me changing my eating habits- and in my family everybody is a carnivore! So 1nce again, how do I break the news?? And dont leave anwsers saying "Ur 2 young!" or "Vegetarians suck!" or any other crap- I can do what I want!

Additional Details

Also- If I am I would still eat eggs and cheese, and sometimes fish because my mom's a worrywart, but I'll eventually slowly stop.

I think it's great that you're a vegetarian. If you think there will be resistance from your parents, go in armed with research and information about factory farming, animal cruelty, and the healthy benefits of a vegetarian diet. If you show them you're informed and have proof, there's not much they can say. Check out PETA's website for lots of good info:)

I checked the website out and talked with my mom and she said it was alright if I still ate fish and took vitamins. I wasn't even tempted to eat meat at dinner! Thnx!

there is a lot of "cooked" vegan food out there, and yummy at that. :)

anyway, since you still live with your parents and they're the ones providing the food, just tell them, there really is no way to avoid it because they're going to find out sooner or later. if they react badly, oh well, it's YOUR choice, and if they start complaining that you are too young or that you will be lacking any nutrients, vitamins, protein from this vegetarian diet, tell them they are wrong and show them proof. search for good articles or websites about vegetarianism. look up myths about vegetarians and how they are not true (you know, the whole "they're all sick, skinny and weak" or that "we're all protein/vitamin deficient"). secondly, start helping when it comes to the cooking, leave them to their meat and you to your veggie meals. cook up some nice veggie side dishes so you can share with everyone.
(I'm sure if you look right here on Y!A for recipes or something you'll find it since this question has been asked lots of times). good luck :)

Its can be hard to go Veg when everyone around you is eating meat. I do it and it is tough. Your parents shouldn't have a problem with it as long as you are getting in all of the vitamins and this you do need. Why don't you just talk to them. Give them the reasons that you don't want to eat meat and your parents should understand if they are good reasons. Offer to help make your own meals. Obviously get help using the stove and oven and things like that. but if you can go online to ask this question you can probably look for recipes online! Good luck

    I've been a vegetarian for 5 years..I started when I was 13.
I told my parents, and they werent thrilled at first, but they got used to it.
you'll get some critisism from people, but ignore it
Its a good thing to cut meat out of your diet! it becomes easy after a few weeks
I actually just turned vegan over the summer, so thats kind of difficult
    but stay strong!

Do your research so you can answer any concerns they may have. One thing you can do is sit down with them and show them this. Peta is good but many consider them to be extreme. This is from a group of medical doctors that are vegan and it has a lot of good information that may help you and your parents.http://www.pcrm.org/health/veginfo/vsk/i…
