How can I get popular girls to like me?

The friends I have right now aren't even popular and we have 10x as much drama as the popular girls. I feel like no matter how nice to them I am, they still just walk all over me, and once I try to stand up for myself just a little, they ignore me. Anyways for our schools week-long Disney field trip, these three semi-popular girls asked me to room with them. They don't seem like the mean kind to me, and I really would like to make new friends from different cliques because my school is really cliquey and once you enter one, you're basically stuck for life. And I hate mine.
I've never been popular before though, so how can I make a good impression on them? I think I have the clothes and the looks but what kind of personality do popular people like? How can I stop being so shy?

Ps. PLEASE DONT TELL ME TO BE MYSELF, or tell me that popular people are back-stabbing shallow fake lifeless bitches. I'm in 10th grade and these girls arent -that- popular, they just have a lot of friends and I always see them having fun, unlike my current friends who don't care about each other at all.

I know exactly the people you are talking about, I have a group a little like that, we're not popular or even semi popular, but we all care about each other and have fun without caring how we look or act. I won't tell you to be yourself, but I will say that is a great way to impress people. Find out what their interests are, do they enjoy reading series with over 7 books? Find a series and bring it to share! Do they love make-up? Bring your favorite brand and share that with them. Do they adore a certain band? Bring your favorite CD of that band. Be yourself while still impressing them, show them you can be cool by showing them what you have that they also like, bring cute clothes and all, but don't be too obsessive, it can be fun if you don't worry so much about fitting in

well, being youself is good, but if ur weird act a little like them first
relate to them and talk about stuff u have in comon, and looks are important. smell good and look clean.
they like open and funny people, even some popular girls say their losers, so dont be afraid

God, you should have learned by now. You can't make anybody like you. And you shouldn't want to be friends with someone who doesn't have any interest in you, or want to get to know you, just cause their popular.
