What should I do about this girl?

She took pictures of the cross country team which is how I met her, and she came and ate dinner with some of the team including myself, and I sat by her. So I know her enough to say whats up in the halways etc but not really to ask her to hang out. Thing is I think shes cute and nice, and shes not too popular and shes kind of shy/quiet. Only thing is I cant get her off my mind even though nobody knows i feel this way and i only know her that well. So how can i get her off my mind or get to know her better? Do I ask her to the movies with a group or something? We have had a couple one-on-one conversations and the rest in a group for a short time. Also when is a couple considered "talking"? We are both 17 and seniors in high school
