I absolutely HATE to bargain with people! But is there a way that I can still get a good deal on a new car?

I really, really can't stand bargaining with salespeople and dickering over price, options, etc.

I don't know why this is, I guess it just feels petty or something. And maybe its also an issue of personal assertiveness.

So having said that, is there any real way that I can go to a car dealership, avoid the bargaining, and still know that I am at least getting a GOOD deal?

You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here - carinsurance.yoll.net

Go on the website and build the exact car you want. Print out the final page which states your total price with tax, figure out how much you really want to pay (say $500 below that) and get a certified (cashiers) cheque for that amount. Go to a dealership with the cheque and tell them you want to buy this car, with these options and you brought a cheque. Take it or leave it. These days, unless you're really lowballing a price or you're after some hot new car, the dealer will probably take your offer.
    Good luck.

I don't know about where you live, but I just have to open the paper. There isn't a dealer in town trying to sell for list price, there are good deals all over the place without dickering.
The ads all list the amount of factory incentive available, plus the amount of dealer incentive as well. Depending on the model, and the original price, cars that us regular folk purchase run anywhere from $3,000 to $15,000 LESS than any time in the last 3 years or so. There are a lot of cars under $20,000 right now, and even $15,000 buys a number of very nice vehicles, fully loaded not just the basic models.

Do it over the internet. My internet shoppers get the best price out of the gate. Plus, all the haggling, credit apps, etc. are already taken care of when you get to the dealership.

When you shop online, dealers know that you can request quotes from 10 different dealers in about 15 minutes. I know that my average internet deal on a new car is $500-$1500 BELOW dealer invoice depending on dealer incentives.

    For Example:
    2009 Hyundai Elantra MSRP $17770.00
    Less Rebate -2000
    Less Discount -1775
    Your Price $13975.00

This is how I would price this car to you over the internet. No need to haggle, that is a GOOD deal. If you got here and that was not the exact car you wanted (maybe you wanted bluetooth or something), I would price the one you wanted the same way in relation to the invoice price.

If you want one, I would be glad to get one ready for you ;-)

    Good luck and happy hunting.

don,t feel that way. after all that,s business and you have your money to take in consideration. do it like this. find out what the price is, ask him if that,s the lowest he will go and if he can,t come down then say thanks anyway and go somewhere else until you get what you want and the price that fits your pocketbook.

When I worked as a car salesman the best offer I ever had from a customer was this: He agreed to buy a car at $500 over invoice (which is roughly what the dealer pays for the car). He wanted to see the invoice, which is fine in most places unless they are dishonest, and the dealer could take it or leave it. We (the dealer) took it, and we probably would have taken less depending on the model of the car. I would try that approach but you should do your research to make sure what car you want and if they dealer agrees to that then you have to stand by it as well. If they are busy they are a lot less likely to go pulling invoices for every car they have. Know what you want going in and what options you want in that car. Also don't expect huge discounts. Sometimes the dealer mark up is only $1000 so you would only be saving $500. Be sure to say that you want the rebates as well (if there are any) some places may let you pay $500 over and then they would keep the rebates (sometimes $3000 or more). Also don't try this on a vehicle add you see in the paper, you will likey wind up paying more and being very disgruntled, some of those cars are advertised under invoice to draw customers. Hope this helps.
