Costume jewelry is generally jewelry that does not, or has a small amount of precious metals and/or gems. Some Chanel jewelry [yes, the real ones, not knockoffs] is considered costume jewelry. ie, a studded bracelet is "costume" jewelry, and diamond ring is not.
