How long can someone with Pancreatic Cancer expect to live?

He's my mom's brother and we can't visit him because he is in Portugal and were in Canada. My aunt from Portugal flew out to visit him yesterday and he hasn't been eating much in the past month, lost A LOT of weight, can't talk or move a lot and they cut his stomach open last night.

I'm really scared cause even though we weren't too close to him we spent a lot of time with him and I'm scared he might die!

Can someone tell me what the doctors will most likely do and if he has a high chance of dying ? He's only 45.

What abdominal operation did he have?
Limited information here for guess making.
Doctors never know exactly how long anyone may live.
An educated guess would be in terms of months - not years.
It could be a matter of weeks or even days depending on what the surgeons found on laparotomy last night.
Sick people - major weight loss and confined to bed - with advanced pancreatic carcinoma - do very poorly. There is no effective chemotherapy and radiation doesn't help either.
