Question for meat eaters- why do you visit the vegetarian boards?
I'm curious. I see a lot of people who just post inane things like, "meats is yummys and good for you" and I wondered, do they just post things like that to get a rise out of people?
But then, I wonder, are there any meat eaters who visit these boards for honest reason? As in, you're curious, your friend is a vegetarian, and so on?

I think there are non-vegetarians who visit for good reasons, and some who visit for bad reasons. The ;latter come here to tease or taunt, etc. However, on the positive side, many "meat eaters" like vegetables, fruit, and such. Everyone recognizes that meat consumption has its negative side, and in most cases veggie dishes are healthier ones. I am not a vegetarian, but my wife is. I often point out dishes on menus that I think she'd like, and when we travel to "hostile" territory (Wyoming, South Dakota, etc), we actively search out veggie places on the internet. To warp a line from the musical Oklahoma "Oh, the veggie and meat lovers should be friends..."

- Thanks! This is about what I was looking for. (Also, I didn't quite think of the general boards too...I'm a smart one...) I should've been more judicious in my wording; I don't care if you visit the boards or not, I just wanted to know why. Sorry for the unintentional anger, and thanks!

I don't
I visit the food general section and the vegetarian section is a sub section under it. I like the general food section because it covers many of the topics that I am familiar and interested in.
I also like vegetables and make vegetarian and vegan recipes frequently. I just ALSO like meat
I think that it gets lost on many people that just because you do eat meat does not mean that you do not enjoy eating vegetables

Because this is the internet. People have nothing better to do than screw with other peoples lives. Get used to it. Everybody does it at some time or another. You can't possible go on the internet and expect everything to be perfect can you?.......
All i have to say is never take anything you read on the internet seriously - especially stuff that has to do with comments (well some stuff is ok obviously but i hope you get the point)

When you visit the food section, questions pop up that happen to fall under the vegetarian categories. However, just because I eat some meat doesn't mean I don't like to eat some all veggie dishes too. But I would never post something like "meats is yummys and good for you" either.

I lived on a farm as a small child. One day, our old goat, Jebidiha bit me on the arm. I got so pissed off that I bit him back, right on his jugular. Blood spurted out all over the place. Still not satisfied, I ate old Jeb while the rest of animals looked on in terror. From that day forth, I made a solemn vow to find vegan message boards on the internet, and post ridiculous things on them to get a rise out of people. True story.

I don't. I answer questions from the Vegetarian section here if it's something I know the answer to. To visit a board just to be an obnoxious troll doesn't sound like fun to me. Besides, I think people should eat what they liked, cooked as they like or not cooked at all if that's what they like. It's not like it's causing me harm if someone else chooses not to eat meat.

I visit the food section. I don't always pay attention to the sub section. My daughter and daughter in law were both vegetarians and I learned to cook for them so I answer questions. I used to visit looking for ideas for them as well.

Because we don't appreciate being called murderers when those b*stards from Peta slaughter animals for no reason. And even if they are not killed for meat, the people who raise them, that get shut down by vegans, just start killing them because they are not going to spend money to continue feeding animals they no longer have a use for. And the sad thing is, instead of people eating them, they get burned and go to waste when they could be used to feed the starving. This is the "good" vegans do.

Actually I am curious about being a vegetarian or vegan. If you see some of my answers you can see. I left a long answer on a question relating to vegans. I also might consider going vegetarian as it's healthy, helps animals, and has many other benefits. I think the people who leave those answers like meat is yummy are stupid and have nothing better to do. Not everyone believes in eating meat, so they should respect that.

As a dedicated meat eater, I don't go go near anything vegetarian, be it sites or whatever.
If I had to hazard a guess, it would be so they can act childish and leave lil bits of their stupidity.
Some people feel a need to do crap like that, pick on what they don't understand or care to experience. You, know, like bullies picking on the kid that is different w/o bothering to get to know them first.
Guess it makes them proud to go back and look at their posts...they prolly giggle like lil girls over it.
*shrugs*
My Mom has chosen to go meatless, so if I had any desire to check out recipes it would be for her.

I think there's a difference between people who are curious or happen to come in here because a question was on the front page, and people who deliberately come here to post stupid things. Normally if I see a question about meat I just don't click it, but I wonder if there are any veg*ns that go to those topics and post things like "tofus is yummys and good for you."

I am honestly curious about what motivates people to be vegetarian or vegan. A lot of the claims that they make sound way too good to be true.

Because many questions asked in the vegetarian boards are directed specifically to meat eaters.
You know, like this one.
There is also a continuous debate in vegetarian boards regarding the merits, advantages, or ethics of a vegetarian or omnivorous diet. And what benefit would that be without all possible viewpoints, including those with which you disagree?

On thing you fist have to understand: Yahoo posts all new questions in the main page for all users to answer regardless of topic..
Some vegetarians are so egocentric and defensive that they think every comment that is made about how good meat is or how being a vegetarian is not the best thing in the world, is posted "just to get a rise" out of them. They are under the delusion that they own this page to the point that they ask why people come here as if this is their home. Granted there are people who do exactly that but most don't. Questions (and rants) posted by vegetarians from this section appear on the main page that can be perceived by non vegetarians as insulting or as you call it "getting a rise" out of them too hence the answers that you see.
Yahoo!Answers is a free open forum where anyone and everyone is encouraged to ask a question or answer one whether they agree with it or not. Tis is also not a vegetarian board since Yahoo is not a vegetarian group. The topic headers are guidelines and for classification, not restrictions.
As for me, I am a crop farmer and a restaurant owner that serves vegetarian food.. I get information from some posts (including food ideas and recipes).
