if you only like something physical about that person.
for example: if you think of him as being a hot person/sexy/really good looking - that's lust
if the lever of Communication is far deeper than just physical.
like if you think of him/her for a while and can picture yourself with that person forever
and you have never felt any kind of way like that for some other person.
that is love.
when you would do anything for that person without asking for it back.
that is the main difference between love and lust.
just realize that you can love someone's body and be in love with them at the same time.
the difference would be that, when you set the body aside, you would still love that person
