What's the difference between brown chicken eggs and white ones?

I bought brown eggs today and other than being a little darker they seemed exactly like white eggs. I know chickens usually lay brown eggs so why do they sell white ones in the store and what is the difference?

The difference is how clean the chicken's butt is, lol.

OK, seriously different colour eggs come from different breeds of chickens. I've even had green eggs, they all taste the same though.

The color of the egg is only cosmetic. Once you crack them open, white eggs and brown eggs are the same.

The chickens that lay brown eggs are a different breed than the chickens that lay white eggs. The eggs themselves are the same.
