What can I use instead of half and half cream?
I am making a garlic mash potato recipe and cant go and get half and half right now..
I dont have much in the fridge to sub but any ideas?
Milk (2%)?
Cream Cheese?
Butter?
not sure what do to? it says a 1/4c of half and half
doesnt use milk but uses 1/2 c of butter
there is also seasonings in this, but no milk.. ideas please...

butter for sure and cream cheese or milk it depends how rich you want it.
by coincidence I am making garlic mash potatoes and plan to use cream
cheese. and butter.

Simply add more butter.
The only difference between half & half and milk is the amount of butter-fat in the liquid. By adding more butter to the recipe with milk, is the same as adding half & half.

cream cheese is GREAT in mashed potatoes, so I'd go with that, if I were you, plus some extra butter, so you get the right consistency.

Milk and real butter should work well. The 2% milk is the moisture and the butter is the fat (and flavor). Cream cheese might work but not my first choice as it will make a heavier mashed potato.
