Does it make sense to feel emotionally weaker when your in a relationship then when your not?

I'm 28 y/o never had a girlfriend because the thought of it makes me feel weak. Even having friends elicits the same emotions of feeling weak. I feel stronger alone then when I'm with other people. Can someone explain why this is?

(Family history: My parents were married for 25 years and loved each other greatly and they love me. And I wasn't an only child. )

thats not a very good reason for not having a girlfriend. I think perhaps other things have gotten in the way of it. being in a relationship isn't about being emotionally weak its just about taking a risk and opening yourself up to new feelings, its up to you to decide whether or not you want to feel this way.

If you had loving parents & they loved you something had to happen to you, to make you think being in a relationship or even being a friend makes you feel inferior.
May be your one of those rare breeds who are just a natural loner, to the letter. If it really doesn't bother you then just be happy by yourself. If it is bothering you then seek professional help to figure out why & what you can do to change it.
this one of the shortest answers I've given to a question like yours. Just not enough info to do any better.
