Ladies, in a long term relationship, would you ask your SO to get circumcised, if he wasn't already?

If so, why / why not? How important is it to you?

Well, at the end of the day, it's his decision, but yes, I would ask him to see what his opinion was. Because it's healthier, sexier, looks better etc.

The whole thing is retarded. Most people don't have foreskin that hangs over the head anyway.
And the health/risk thing is bs. it's a FACT that scar tissue is more likely to bleed than not having scar tissue.
And there are no "secret" crevices or angles that you can not clean with foreskin in the way, because it's not in the way like that.

any woman who answers yes to this is very selfish.

so you would ask him to forfeit some of his sexual pleasures for the rest of his life purely because it looks better??

and its nothing to do with hygiene, as long as its gets washed daily, its perfectly hygienic.

I would love to see the woman who offers to forfeit some of her sexual pleasures.

why not cut off you hood??

Im sure that would much cleaner??

I wouldn't dream of asking a partner to get circumcised. Unless done for medical reasons there's no reason at all for a man to mutilate himself. It's a myth that an uncircumcised penis is unhealthy or dirty. Have people never heard of showers or baths?

    You have to be American.

In England, hardly any men are circimcised and then mostly because of a medical issue. It is unnecessary and barbaric to inflict that upon a small baby boy.

It's just a fashion. I would never ask anyone to do it. In fact it would never even enter my head!

Absolutely not! I am an American and my boyfriend is from Europe where it is not a common to circumcise infants or children unless there is a medical necessity such as recurrent urinary tract infections, etc. I personally do not have a problem with foreskin. Aesthetically, circumcised penises are slightly more attractive. As far as hygiene is concerned, it is just as easy to care for an uncircumcised penis than it is to care for a circumcised one provided the man is attentive and takes initiative to clean properly. Some people are just nasty and their groins will smell of goat cheese regardless of if there's a little extra skin or not. Besides that, circumcisions are very painful (from what I've been told and read) and are usually not medically necessary. If a partner is so self-centered that she asks you to endure an excruciatingly painful procedure for sheer aesthetics, then that would make me question whether or not I truly wanted to be with her. That said, the next time a sig. other requests you cut your foreskin, ask her to cut her labia minora :o)

if i were a virgin, knowing what i know about hpv, and cervical cancer (science has proven that uncircumcised men carry something that transfers to women in sexual intercourse and is linked to cervical cancer later in life), then i'd want him circumcised. my life is more important than his pleasure.

As I am no virgin, and was having sex before this knowledge was even discovered? no i wouldnt demand it.

i agree on the hygiene matter.

circumcision isnt butchery however, its for good reasons. some men have it for medical reasons, some for religious, so whats the difference if its introduced compulsarily to protect future generations of women from cervical cancer ??? its all very well and good saying theres a jab, but some of us fell outside the gap for that jab and many dont have it!

as for the person who said would i have my hood chopped? if there were medical evidence saying my hood could harm my partner, i'd do it, pain aside.

true sexual partners are wise enough to know that stimulation doesnt just depend on one sensitive area. perhaps the people claiming this need to go and get some better practice...

Are you a jew? Because they are the only religion that practises it.
Would you like it done to you, as muslim women do?
It should ONLY be done for medical reasons.

I am against infant circumcision. It is unethical to do it on babies as they cannot give their consent.

I am pretty knowledgeable on the subject. Here is some information on why it is not advised to circumcise:

Have a watch of this 20 minute video by the nocirc organisation. It is very informative:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHVvB1oHA…

In regards to care. Care is a lot easier with intact, non-circumcised boys as there is nothing to do. The foreskin is unretractable in infancy so it should be left alone. No cleaning under it or pulling it back is required. Doctors who know about the foreskin advise to leave it alone:
    http://www.kidshealth.org.nz/index.php/p…

Circumcised boys actually require a lot more care.
Firstly, all newly circumcised boys are in discomfort because there is an open wound. The wound is susceptible to infection. It can also become irritated by ammonia in the urine - which provides more discomfort for the baby.
One common problem is a skin-bridge. The skin left over after the foreskin is severed can re-attach to another part of the penis resulting in an adhesion (see link below for picturesof this and other complications). Very little of this is told to you. Do you really want all this hassle when there is no need for it?
    http://www.circumstitions.com/Complic.ht…
(Look around the circumstitions site - it has a wealth of information.)

The psychological effects of circumcision are open to dispute, but I cannot imagine them being anything other than negative. It certainly won't help you bond with your child - especially in those crucial early months:
    http://www.cirp.org/library/psych/goldma…
(Look around the cirp site- it has a wealth of information.)

The foreskin serves a sexual purpose. The negative sexual effects are rarely mentioned or worse, denied. Circumcision removes a functioning part of the penis. Many circumcised men do not even know what they have lost - especially in the USA where it can be a taboo topic - what with men having fragile egos and all.

As someone with a foreskin, I value it. It contains many specialized nerves on it's underside. When the foreskin is moved up and down it is very pleasurable and prompts the release of all sorts of feel-good hormones. Circumcised men cannot masturbate as easily as there is no gliding effect. If they try it without an artificial lubricant then it may chafe , become red and sore. I think this is terrible - to worsen the sexual lives of someone without their consent. This site shows the movement of the foreskin in masturbation (graphic). It also contains a 20 minute video on the function of the foreskin::
    http://www.circumstitions.com/completema…

Without the foreskin protecting the glans, circumcised men lose further sensitivity. The glans (head of the penis) dries out. It also brushes on underwear which causes the skin to toughen -sort of like when you walk bear feet - the skin hardens. This page shows pictures (graphic):
    http://www.noharmm.org/IDcirc.htm

There are good reasons to believe that sex is better for the woman as well, if the man has his foreskin intact: This site is an educational one on why it is better for both partners to be intact (graphic):
    http://xrl.us/foreskinfunctions

Men in Britain, Ireland, France, Germany and Italy, along with the rest of Europe don't get circumcised and they all do as good if not better than countries where circumcision is more common. So all in all it is best to be as nature intended. No medical association actually recommends non-therapeutic infant circumcision. Check out this site for frequently asked questions:
    http://www.circinfo.org/parents.html

Here is some other information you might find useful:

History: Non-religious circumcision only started in English-speaking countries in the late 1800's. The main reason was to prevent masturbation. More info can be found at this at this site:
    http://www.historyofcircumcision.net/

    Rates of circumcision:
Circumcision rates have dropped in the USA to 60%.
    http://www.circumstitions.com/USA.html
In Canada and Australia the rate has dropped to less than 10%. In Britain the rate is less than 1%. Only 20-25% of the world are circumcised, 2/3 of these are Muslim.
